About the Artist

Les Sechler - Biography

LES SECHLER was born in Central California and raised on a small walnut ranch near the foothills of the Sierras. He began drawing at an early age and continued to draw and paint through high school. While in college he became fascinated with the world of advertising and focused his artistic abilities in pursuit of a career in graphic design focusing on advertising and publication art direction. His creative horizons later expanded to include product design and landscape architecture.

Les recently retired from his 40 year design career and decided to pursue painting, something he had long thought about, but hadn’t done since high school. A relocation from Los Angeles to the beautiful Russian River area of Northern California rekindled his love affair with the landscape and sparked a desire to communicate that affection through painting. He lives in the small forested town of Monte Rio with his architect husband, Jorge and dog, Eddie in Monte Rio’s original 1890 school house.
